Tiger in ominous form with 68th tour victory, Poulter throws toys out of the pram

Tiger Woods sealed his 68th PGA Tour win yesterday at the PGA National tournament in Maryland, a tournament he himself played host to.

Woods held off a fourth round surge from Hunter Mahan, who shot an eight under par 62, to finish on thirteen under and take the title by just one stroke.

Leading Briton was Juatin Rose, who finished four under but comfortably out of contention.

On the other side of the pond, the final round of the French Open was marred by a Colin Montgomerie style outburst by Ian Poulter.

Poulter put a ball in the water on the fifteenth hole, ending his challenge for the tournament. He then proceeded to blame a cameraman for the mistake and has vowed never to attend the event again.

Both players will surely be in contention at Turnberry in a couple of weeks, although there is no question as to the more professional of the two. A disappointing outburst from the Briton, which will not improve his reputation as a ‘love him or hate him guy.’
