Scottish Open underway

The 2009 Scottish Open at Loch Lomond is well underway, with Graham McDowell looking to defend his title.

As I speak, Prayad Marksaeng of Thailand leads the way, after shooting five under par thru eight holes.

The tournament, played on an American style links course, has often been criticised as inadequate preparation for the Open Championship, and many players want a links tournament to prepare. Luke Donald, a well documented critic, is skipping the tournament in favour of practicing at various links courses in the vicinity of Turnberry.

In Luke’s absence, ones to watch include young rookie, Rory Mcilroy, Masters champion Angel Cabrera and McDowell himself. The defending champion is two under after thirteen.
